This year’s lineup offers something for communicators from a variety of agencies, including:
A live conversation with Jana Shortal, host of KARE11’s Breaking the News. She’ll talk about her journey in journalism and life – covering major stories in the Twin Cities and across Minnesota. The conversation will also provide insight into the highs and lows of being a public figure on the job and in her personal live. The seven-time Emmy winner earned her Bachelor’s in Journalism at University of Missouri – Columbia. Jana’s reason for journalism? “Because the truth, still, has to matter.”
Learn how former KARE 11 anchor and reporter Bryan Piatt, gave a sense of purpose to his mental health journey. From getting diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder, to struggling with panic attacks on live television, Bryan will share the tools that help support his mental and emotional wellbeing. This presentation is an invitation for you to show up exactly as you are, and feel a little less alone as we maneuver this human experience together. Bryan is currently pursuing a graduate degree in mental health counseling. He’s still in front of the microphone as host of the "Take What Serves. Leave the Rest" podcast - which is aimed at creating safe spaces to talk about mental health.
