Speakers
Brad Phenow joined the City of Faribault as the Communications Coordinator in May 2017 and manages the various City social media accounts and City webpage. As the only communications employee within the City, he leads all communications and engagement efforts and often finds himself assisting other departments finding new ways to market the City. Brad is passionate about humanizing government and getting community members involved.
Dana Kazel has been the Communications Manager for St. Louis County since 2012. Earlier careers include as an account executive/copywriter for an ad agency, and as a television news reporter/producer. Experience from both roles have served her well as she juggles the communications needs of a dozen county departments and 1,900 employees who together serve 200,000 residents spanning 7,000 square miles.
Deanna Sheely has several decades of experience crafting marketing and communication strategies in the public and private sectors. Her expertise in developing strategic, goal-oriented marketing communications has been recognized at state and national levels as examples of best practices. She currently served the City of Owatonna as its first Communications Manager. Previously, in her role as Vice President of Advancement, Marketing & Communications at Minneapolis College, she led a team responsible for branding, communications, media relations and crisis communication strategies.
