About MAGC

The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators is a peer organization of professionals who are dedicated to improving public-sector communications.

We organize thought-provoking workshops, an annual conference and various other activities to improve our communications skills and to strengthen our peer networks. We share our best work through our annual Northern Lights Awards Contest, and we celebrate our accomplishments and learn from each other's successes at the annual Northern Lights Awards Ceremony.

Our members represent all levels of government—federal, state, regional, county, and local—as well as school districts, universities and colleges, nonprofits and agencies serving these organizations.

MAGC welcomes all who have an interest in government communications to take part in the organization.

Mission

MAGC members are committed to improving the two-way flow of communications between the public and the agencies we represent. We strive to help people access government resources and understand how our agencies serve the public. We work hard to maintain open communications, foster strong community relations, and provide the highest level of public service through effective communications.

Organizational Structure

As a nonprofit, MAGC is sustained with annual dues from its members and member agencies. Each year, members elect a volunteer executive board and president. The board develops annual programs and special events and manages the organization’s financial affairs and organizational policies.

Most MAGC activities are financially self-sustaining. All MAGC resources are used to advance its purpose of promoting effective government communications.
