Pocket Program: Creating and Communicating the Value of Place

  • 10 Sep 2019
  • 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM (CST)
  • St. Louis Park City Hall, Council Chambers 5005 Minnetonka Boulevard St. Louis Park, MN 55416

A sense of place has never been more important for communities in their ongoing efforts to foster social and commercial vitality.

About this Event

Increasingly people are choosing places and experiences to have first, and then making retail, housing, and business locational purchases from there. A simple adage holds: wherever people want to be, they want to do things nearby.

Communication professionals play a critical role in both facilitating the vibrancy of a place and communicating the value of it to shape desired behaviors by residents, visitors, and businesses. In this session you will hear from locally based, nationally recognized placemaking leader Max Musicant, founder and principal of The Musicant Group about how his firm has created and communicated place-value for a wide variety of communities, businesses, and municipalities.

During the program you will learn:

  • The basic process of creating active places
  • Communication strategies essential to this practice
  • How communication professionals can create place-value to make a difference in their community

This session is cosponsored by the Minnesota Shopping Center Association.

Come for networking at 7:30 am. The program starts at 8 am.
