City of Moorhead
Current Position and how long
Communications Coordinator, 1.5 years
Why do you want to be a Minnesota Association of Government Communicators board member?
I am based in Northern Minnesota (yep, 3.5 hours outside the metro - shoutout 218!), and I think that perspective matters. Not everyone has a big team (or a team at all) and I want to be a voice for those juggling it all. I am energized by making a difference, and I'm ready to step up, represent, and help MAGC continue to grow as a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive state for all of us.
What skills, knowledge or expertise do you bring to the board?
I'm a passionate communications and marketing rep, proudly serving in city government. I have worked for the City of Moorhead for almost 2 years but have been in Marketing/Comm in Government and the Nonprofit world for 15 years. I believe in the power of telling a story to connect, inspire, and drive change. Even if it is informing the community of spraying for mosquitos (check out the drama in Moorhead when it comes to mosquitos), closing a road, or having fun bragging about our great employees, I love what we do and I want to bring that energy to the MAGC board!
I was in the event planning world for years. From big, bustling conferences and banquets to intimate community gatherings. I understand the importance of logistics, creativity, and seeing people come together.
What else would you like us to know about you as a candidate for the MAGC board?
I have lived all over the state and love Minnesota. If you have recommendations for great birding spots or plant stores, hit me up because yes, I am that at that stage in my millennial life. My husband teaches elementary school and I have enough children to make a terrible basketball team.
Moorhead is in an exciting time (we are preparing FIVE major ribbon cuttings for City projects in 2026) along with reimagining our downtown. I clearly thrive on chaos, thank you for asking.
