Organization
City of Owatonna
Current Position and how long
Communications Manager - 4 years
Why do you want to be a Minnesota Association of Government Communicators board member?
I would be honored to serve government communicators across the state by supporting MAGC in planning webinars, holding the annual conference and in other ways that help create opportunities to share best practices and lift one another up.
What skills, knowledge or expertise do you bring to the board?
I have more than 30 years of experience in public sector communications. With a focus on continuous improvement, I have been fortunate to develop and support many city initiatives such as comprehensive planning, strategic planning, capital investments, rebranding, crisis communications and more. These are all topics that, at some point, will likely be relevant to all cities regardless of their size or current leadership. I would like to be able to help MAGC continue to expand through its sponsorships and memberships to serve communicators who are increasingly challenged to do more with less.
What else would you like us to know about you as a candidate for the MAGC board?
I consider myself a lifelong learner and am passionate about helping others identify and pursue their career aspirations and ongoing development. My local government and higher education communications work has been recognized by 3CMA, MAGC and NCMPR. I would like to focus on developing more robust and convenient options for communicators in outstate Minnesota to participate and engage with MAGC resources.
