Current Position and how long
Strategic Communications Coordinator, 10 years with Bloomington and 1.5 years in my new role
Why do you want to be a Minnesota Association of Government Communicators board member?
I've been an active member of MAGC since I began working in government communications. I remember how much I appreciated the education and networking opportunities MAGC provided when I was starting out, and I still value them today. I'd love to continue giving my time and expertise to MAGC to pay it forward and find new ways to add value for members. Seeing MAGC's growth since I was first elected to the board in 2019 has been so exciting! With more government communicators in Minnesota than ever before, there is so much opportunity for MAGC to connect and support people across the state.
What skills, knowledge or expertise do you bring to the board?
I bring enthusiasm, positivity, and more than a decade of communications experience, along with several years of volunteering with MAGC. I’m also a certified facilitator and project manager. I’ve been involved in producing the Northern Lights Awards contest since 2017, and I'd love to continue shining a light on all the outstanding work my government communications colleagues (you!) produce each year. We've evolved the contest over time, and I'm so excited to keep incorporating new ideas and finding even more creative ways to highlight the best of the best. I'm also looking forward to exploring new offerings for MAGC members, such as expanded networking and mentorship opportunities.
What else would you like us to know about you as a candidate for the MAGC board?
I believe clear, transparent communication is essential to building and maintaining public trust, which our communities need now more than ever. I'm deeply committed to supporting and uplifting government communicators as we continue this important, often challenging, work. Having worked in both rural and metro areas, I understand the unique challenges our members face. MAGC has given me so much over the years, and I'd be honored to continue giving back by serving on the board.
