Carver County Communications

Current Position and how long

Chief Communications Officer - 1.5 Years

Why do you want to be a Minnesota Association of Government Communicators board member?

I believe deeply in the work of government communicators and the vital role we play in building trust, transparency, and connection between public institutions and the communities we serve. Over the past four years on the MAGC board, I've had the privilege of helping guide our organization through meaningful progress, and I am eager to continue that momentum.

I am especially passionate about extending MAGC's mission to Greater Minnesota‚ ensuring that communicators across the state feel supported, seen, and empowered. I want to continue leading the implementation of our current strategic plan, which reflects our shared commitment to professional development, inclusivity, and excellence in public communication.

MAGC's mission resonates strongly with me. I believe in the power of education, collaboration, and the promotion of high-quality communication practices. Being part of an organization that values and elevates our profession is not only important to me personally, but essential to the future of government communications in Minnesota.

What skills, knowledge or expertise do you bring to the board?

With four years of experience on the MAGC board, including serving as current President, past Vice President, Chair of the Northern Lights Committee, and Co-Chair of the Fall Conference Committee, I bring a deep understanding of our organizations mission, operations, and strategic goals. My leadership has been grounded in collaboration, creativity, and a strong commitment to elevating the work of government communicators across Minnesota.

Professionally, I am a skilled communicator and writer, with a passion for creating meaningful experiences that connect community with government. Working in a semi-rural county has also given me a unique perspective on the communication challenges and opportunities faced by communities outside the metro area - something I believe is essential to ensuring MAGC remains inclusive and representative of all regions.

I bring both institutional knowledge and fresh energy to the board, and I am excited to continue contributing to MAGC's growth and impact.

What else would you like us to know about you as a candidate for the MAGC board?

I care deeply about MAGC and the people it serves. As a long-time member and current board leader, I have seen firsthand how this organization can empower communicators, foster professional growth, and build a strong network of support across government agencies. I am committed to continuing that work with integrity, ingenuity, and a collaborative spirit.

I also bring a strong sense of responsibility to ensure MAGC remains relevant, inclusive, and accessible, especially to those in Greater Minnesota and smaller jurisdictions who may not always feel as connected. I am proud of the progress we've made, and I am excited about the opportunities ahead to strengthen our impact and expand our reach.
