Current Position and how long

Communications Specialist - 2.5 years

Other experience: Professional, communications, education or anything else you'd like to share

I have worked in the field of communications for the past 15 years, primarily in local government and community oriented organizations. In addition to being a current MAGC board member, I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce, and am a co-founder of the East Metro Communicators group. I hold a BS degree in Design Technology and an MBA.

Why do you want to be a Minnesota Association of Government Communicators board member?

I have served on the MAGC Board for the past two years, as Treasurer. As a board member, I enjoy the opportunity to help others connect and grow in their communications professions. I would love to continue to serve the members of MAGC in this capacity.

What qualities and attributes will you bring to the organization?

My number one attribute that I bring to the organization is passion. Passion for for the work the board does and for finding ways to add benefit for the members, and passion for the field of communications.

What do you consider to be the major issues facing government communicators today?

A few of the biggest issues facing government communicators are: the breadth of the field and staying current with trends and best practices, effectively communicating with more diverse populations, and the increasing expectations of citizens.
